Everyone knows how important keywords are for getting your books to show up in searches on Amazon. If people can’t find your book, they aren’t going to buy it! A lot of people agonize over how to find good keywords and end up spending lots of money on it. However, you don’t have to spend a dime to find great keywords. The most important thing to remember is to be unique, stand away from the crowd, and the sales will come. Be the one setting the trends, not following them.
#1 – The Amazon Search Bar
One of the best places to look for keywords is the Amazon search bar. It will give you a list of suggested terms based on what you type in the search bar. Use the Amazon AutoSuggest Expander Chrome extension expand the number of search suggestions in the Amazon search bar. Enter the niche for your book and/or other words related to that niche and checked out the results. You will want to look for unique keywords relating to your niche.
#2 – Keyword Surfer
The Keyword Surfer extension is a free keyword tool available for Chrome. This extension will show you google keyword search volume, multiple keywords suggestions, and related terms. It also provides metrics like the number of quality back-links and estimated organic traffic for all ranking pages.
#3 – Google Keyword Planner
The Google Keyword Planner is a free tool to help you find the keywords that are most relevant for your niches. In order to use the Google Keyword Planner, you NEED to have a Google Ads account. To use the tool you search for words or phrases related to your niches. This will generate a list of keywords you can then search through to find the best ones for your low content book.
#4 – Google Trends
Google Trends visualizes how search trends change over time. Enter a keyword, and you will see the relative popularity of that search query over the past 12 months. This can be very useful to identify seasonal trends so you create and promote the right content at the right time.
#5 – Google Correlate
Google Correlate finds finds search patterns which correspond with real‐world trends. A lot of the time you get totally unrelated phrases back. However, it will sometimes kickback a gem that you would never had thought of on your own. When getting into a new niche, it is worth using to find some great related terms.
#6 – Wordtracker Scout
Wordtracker Scout is a Chrome extension that will give you the most relevant keywords for the text on a webpage. The results are displayed in a word cloud. You can then play around with the word in the cloud to refine the suggestions based on number of words and relevance. You can even cutrand paste this data into your own spreadsheet.
#7 – SEO Chat’s Suggestion Keyword Finder
SEO Chat’s Suggestion Keyword Finder is a free tool that mines Google Autocomplete suggestions. It extracts ten suggested searches from the keywords you input at level one. Then ten searches from each of the ten results from level one at level two. Then ten searches from each of the hundred results from level two at level three. That gives you 1,110 keywords at level three.
# 8 – Ubersuggest
Ubersuggest allows you to get insight into the strategies that are working for others in your market so you can adopt them, improve them, and gain an edge. When you do a search there you will be able to see volume, the competition, and even seasonal trends for each keyword.
#9 – LSI Graph
LSI Graph is a tool to create what is known as “latent semantic indexing” keywords. LSI keywords are words that are semantically liked to the main keyword or phrase. They aren’t synonyms or keyword variations, they’re words you expect to use when discussing a certain topic.
#10 – Keyword.Guru
Keyword.Guru collates results from top search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing) and ecommerce sites (Amazon, eBay). Start typing and it delivers results based on what people are searching for in real-time. It also allows you to export the keyword list it generates which can easily be imported into a spreadsheet.
